  BACKGROUND - WHO ARE WE?

Worried came into being through the vision of Dennis Gates. Originally from Morinsville, Dennis studied at Waikato University, gaining a B.Soc.Sc before going on to get a law degree at Canterbury University and being admitted to the bar in 1980. In 1986 he opened his own practice in Whangaparaoa, where he still provides legal advice to the local community today.

Over the years Dennis found himself more and more dissatisfied with suburban law practices. He was often required to assist people facing civil problems as a result of poor legal advice, and he decided something needed to be done to deliver a better level of service to all New Zealanders.

And so, Worried was born.

Aside from helping regular New Zealanders get the legal service they deserve, Worried aims to help small law firms succeed. As a sole practitioner, Dennis was well aware of the difficulties of running a business - spending much of his time managing people, dreaming up marketing initiatives and balancing the books.

As a Worried franchisee, a law firm is able to retain its independence, while benefiting from the efficiencies that come from being part of a wider group. With access to expertise in areas such as advertising, marketing, market research and product development, Worried lawyers can focus on doing what they do best - practicing law.

Thanks to Dennis' passion, the Worried Group is growing by the day, and his vision of quality legal advice is becoming a reality for all New Zealanders. Thanks to Dennis' passion, the Worried Group is growing by the day, and his vision of quality legal advice is becoming a reality for all New Zealanders.
